OSLIS Librarians:
The OSLIS Committee of OASL requests help to continue providing this
excellent website to Oregon's K-12 schools. Read on to learn how you can
help with OSLIS 2.0 and Citation Maker.
OSLIS 2.0 - Next school year a group of 6 librarians will work with the
state library school consultant on quality control of OSLIS 2.0. What
this means is that work needs to be done to add graphics and links, as
well as general quality control checking. The task is to work on the
OSLIS 2.0 pages that are there, not to create new content which will come
later.
These 6 people will travel to the state library in Salem 4 times during
the 2008-09 school year to work together on OSLIS 2.0. LSTA funds will
pay for substitutes, mileage and parking at the state library.
People interested in applying for this committee should meet the
following qualifications.
- tech savvy -- has created and uses web pages with students
- uses OSLIS with students and staff
- excited about learning new things
- works well in a team
- willing to travel to Salem 4 times a year
Citation Maker is the crown jewel of OSLIS and the OSLIS Committee is
looking for MLA and APA experts. These librarians would be committing to
respond to user questions concerning Citation Maker and to consult with
the OSLIS Committee when enhancements are suggested. The OSLIS Committee
has one member who is our "go to" person for Citation Maker, and this
really needs to be a sub-committee.
People interested in applying for this subcommittee should meet the
following qualifications.
- high level of knowledge of MLA and/or APA
- uses CM with staff and students
- able to respond quickly via email to CM inquiries
If you are interested please reply with your name, email address where
you can be reached this summer, and a short paragraph of how you meet
these qualifications. Please include the name and contact information of
one reference. OSLIS 2.0 applicants should include the grade level you
work at (or prefer) so we have a balanced team of elementary and
secondary librarians, and the name of the city they will be traveling
from for meetings at the state library. Indicate whether you are applying
for OSLIS 2.0 or for Citation Maker.
Applications should be sent to Sheryl Steinke, OSLIS Chair no later than June 10. You will be notified no later than June 20.
Sheryl Steinke, Chair
