Hi, library staff who work with elementary students,
As of April 30th, any Gale ebooks that your library has access to and that have an audience level of K-5 will automatically appear in the Gale database specifically designed for elementary students, which is Gale In Context: Elementary. Currently, those ebooks only appear in the database called Gale Ebooks. As of the transition date, the ebooks will be available in both databases. You will not have to do anything to activate the Gale In Context: Elementary integration.
Haven’t purchased any Gale ebooks for your library? Our statewide contract with Gale makes available a variety of ebooks for all types of libraries – academic, public, school, and tribal. Currently there are 18 titles with an audience level of K-5 (elementary). You can access the title list in a couple of ways. One, go to the MARC Records page of the Gale support site for Oregon library staff, and click on the linked text near the top of the page that says “this spreadsheet.” Once the spreadsheet is open, click on the By Audience tab at the bottom, and scroll to find the group labeled Elementary in column C. Or, click on the Gale Ebooks link on the elementary Find Information page on OSLIS.
I’ll announce when the eBook integration is live in Gale In Context: Elementary. Also, Gale trainers will offer a webinar on the topic in May. If you have questions, please ask.
Thanks,
Jen
