As part of Oregon’s Statewide Database Licensing Program, the K-12 community has access to Gale’s popular database, Opposing Viewpoints In Context. One easy access point is from the Find Information page for secondary students on OSLIS.
Gale now offers a Chrome extension to use with this resource. When added to Chrome browsers, the extension will display results directly from the Opposing Viewpoints In Context database, alongside Google search results. Just click on "Show" to see any related viewpoint essays and more. This allows easy retrieval of trusted quality content with a single search—putting your library resources in users’ everyday workflow.
A recent Gale blog post shows how the results display once the extension is installed.
The Opposing Viewpoints In Context Chrome extension is available in the Chrome Web Store. Be sure to download the extension and not the app. The extension can be installed by individual libraries using their location ID (= Gale username) and password, or pushed to shared computers via the Google admin tool. If you need a reminder of what your Gale username is, please ask. If you need any assistance with configuration, please contact Gale support.
